Living with memories!
John was 14 years old when his parents bought a shop and turned it into an Auto Dream Palace where they sold most make cars. John grew up working with cars and dealing with annoying, rude, but some very well behaved costumers that came and left with a smile on their face. At the age of 17 John realized that cars had started to interest him, and he told his dad that he would like to work at the shop and help sell cars. While working on his selling skills John also learned how to fix cars on his free time from his grandfather. He was only 19 when his father passed away and ever since that day he, his brother and grandfather have kept the place going and succeeding in honor and memory of their beloved father.
John began working with cars ever since he was 14 years old, he would help his dad choose cars to purchase, for the family and the shop. “There hasn’t been a time when my dad picked out a car and I wasn’t around. To him I was the final decision.” Having to be the last person to put the yes or the no on the car makes John not only feel important but also part of the team. “Afterschool I would chill in my dad’s office with my brother, we would do homework or even just listen to my dad interact with costumer and it felt like something that interested me more than homework ever could.” With many class assignment to do John always found time to sneak out of his father’s office to go play with big boy toys. “Me and my brother almost all the time played with the cars, he was the cop and I was the fast driver who got pulled over and over for the same thing and that never bored us.” It’s interesting how when you love something and no matter how much you love something it won’t get old.
Having been interested in cars a 17 year old John found himself caught in the middle of wanting to take over the business or attend college. “I choose to become my dad’s right hand, off course he was not happy, he always wanted me to go to college, and succeed but he was glad he had someone to help him out.” Working side by side with his dad John grew even more close to his father and respected the work that his father has put together. “It wasn’t until the summer of 2009 when I realized that not only did I lose my dad, from cancer but a business partner, and a friend as well. It was hard to be in the office without tearing up in memories, and not remember the good times that me and my dad had.” One can only imagine how hard it was for John to enter the office where he and his dad worked side by side. “There has not been a day where I haven’t thought about my dad and it’s still hard cuz I do miss him.” Hearing those words can make a person think, imagine, and feel what John has felt when he has lost his beloved father.
“Being a young man and already owning, well sharing a business with my brother is a tough job, well for me at least I didn’t go to college. On the other hand my brother did help me with what I can’t figure out and I am very much thankful for that.” John is very lucky to have his brother help him out and work with him. It is true education plays a big and important part in our everyday lives, without it we face many different challenges. John’s mistake was rejecting education, but he would not have the memory of his father as a partner, a friend and a companion. With every hardship John has faced he has ended up learning how to overcome it. John at the age of 20 decided to go back to school. “In honor of my dad’s memory, and keeping the shop running and I ended up going back to school. Knowing that my dad always wanted me to continue my education and be a better me I ended up applying to college and getting my degree in engineering and business.”
Having an idol in your life can make a person want to be better at themselves; John made a choice to help his father, and then made a choice to go back to college in memory of his father. Having someone to believe in can change a man’s perspective of life, and the choices that they make. John has not forgotten about his dad and the work that they both did, but he has continued building on top of what they had made with his father and making it the shop not only a great place but a memorable place as well.
“Ever since I went back to college I know for sure that the business has been doing better year on top of year. More money is being made because of the new things that I have learned. I guess I can say my dad’s wish did come true with me going to college and that matters a lot to me, knowing that I did what he has always dreamed for me and it helped me as well.” John graduated college with a degree in business, engineering and, was able to take care of the shop and the costumers with more knowledge in his hands then before. John on his free time has learned how to fix cars from his grandfather. “Knowing how to fix a car, or what the structure of a car is composed of is very important because you learn the value of the part, the function that each act upon, and how to use the part properly comes in handy when handling costumers.” Understanding a car is an important part to John’s career because without knowing the car, how it functions, the value, he would have not been successful in his path as a seller.
According to John costumers always want the luxury car, affordable and lowest prices, but he has always wondered what costumers mean by a luxury car. “To me a car that is luxurious means black interior and exterior, why because black has been known for elegance and they strike a difference in the views eye.” In a job where you handle cars it’s very important to know what color will have a higher price because you want to have more of those high price cars to sell and make money. The color has its own different value, black, red, and white, have had the higher value in cars than silver, green and etc. “Costumer also likes cars with navigation, cd, dvd player, sick rims, and engine that are higher than V3 to be able to feel the speed. V3 represents the engines power and it is 2500 horsepower’s. Also the higher the V numbers the more the gas it uses. ”
Knowing cars and making business is great, but what is even greater is the time, love and effort you put into your job. “I grew up around cars, hearing and knowing them, I had my interests in working with cars and that grew over time. It wasn’t like I saw a car and fell in mad love with it no I got to know what the pros and cons of the cars are the features, the types and it interested me so I went for what interested me, cars. I work with them, I sell them and I ride them life doesn’t get any better than this”
Too much success is money, playing sports, having a career, and family, etc. To John the most important thing in his life was being there for his father, making him proud and having great memories. He has a part in this life, a goal, a memory, and an idol to look up to. Johns part in this life was to be a son, a right hand, and a brother who took care of his father’s business. John had a goal, when he saw that he could help his father out he took that chance and put education aside for years to be there for family. John has a memory where he knew his father wanted him to go to college and he did; he went to college and succeeded. John has an idol (his father) to look up to in great memory and push himself harder with that memory to succeed in even more greater things and for John that is building on to his father’s hard work.
